What's the use of these oversized tire carrier products if it's not a good idea to have all that wait on the tailgate to begin with? Are they designed differently? It appears they just bolt onto the tailgate in the pre-existing holes for the stock tire carrier... Anyone here run with a product like that?

Most oversize Tire Carriers come with Re-enforment plates that go inside your tailgate behind the carrier to add support .. they mainly for people who dont want to change bumpers or shit there pants when they see $900 and up, price tag on a bumper with a carrier ...

You forgot about that people who shit their pants after the tailgate rips off / bends

You want to get a tire carrier that mounts to the bumper and not the tailgate. That way all the weight is distributed to the frame

Exactly, they all mount to the tailgate so what's the point? Haha ....guess its a matter of opinion or taste. New bumper and tire carrier are calling my name when I get my 37's....

If I had to do it again I would go with the orfab carrier with no bumper and the evo shackles in the frame. Looks badass
