dont know how man inches exactly it takes before recentering is needed, but the way i recentered mine worked perfect! when it was time to recenter and all the rest of the lift was finished, i jacked up the jeep with a highlift jack from the front bumper until the wheels hung and were no longer touching the ground. then i slowly set it back down untill the jack was no longer needed. Adjusted the trackbar to fit, and it was dead on. the jeep tracs perfectly and when using the 2x4 against the tire method to measure the distance to the flare it was exactly even. I couldn't be happier. now maybe i just lucked out, but i would imagine this would work for anyone, as by letting the wheels hang they can center themselves via gravity and then just set it back down and you're all set. but like i said, maybe i just got lucky. good luck
