Default 13.5" with stock rubi

Ok, i searched, but couldn't find a strait answer... so...

with the stock rubicon wheels, can a 13.5" wide tire be mounted safely? i know some people have done 12.5, so whats another inch right............ my idea is to get a set of 37x13.5x17 Nitto Mud Grapplers. Apparently they don't come in 12.5 past 35" tires sizes. I think they'll work, but i don't want to air down, go on the trail and pop the tire off the rim.

and yeah, i know i'll need wheel spacers for that size tire... from what i understand, the 1.5" wheel spacers will be fine, so not worried there. just worried about the tire staying on the rim...

so will it work?

I wouldn't do it. I know many people have done 12.5" but even that is right at the max of what the tire manufacturers recommend.
Check the tire makers' web sites for what they say is allowed, most list 8 or 8.5 as minimum width for a 12.5", the stock rim is only 7.5" wide.

I would say go for it. I ran a 12.5 on a 7 rim on my TJ. It is great for airing down. You won't blow a bead.

yes you can

the only draw back is the tire will have uneven wear

but if you ever wheel it, the bead will hold much much better

you'll just have to run them at a little lower pressure on the street to get a better footprint

tons of people have done this without any issues

needless to say you will need wheel spacers, but you should already know that
