Default Falken Rocky Mountain ATS Tread split?

Hey guys I just noticed this morning on my Falkens that a line is forming on the middle tread of every tire. It only runs down the middle and goes all the way around. Would any of you guys know the cause for this to happen? I'm going to Discount Tire today after work but just wanted to check with you guys first. All replies appreciated!

Ill try and send a pic on my lunch break. I really hope it's nothing major and if it is that Falken backs them up. I'm anxious so I'll be going to Discount Tire on my break instead of after work.

I was never a fan of those tires. Don't know why they would split though. How many miles do they have? Hope everything works out at Discount Tire.

I only have 7000miles on them. They seem to get out of balance quite often as well. It is a heavy tire for a 285/70/17. 62lbs. Thx guys. Ill keep ya posted when I return.

I wouldn't replace it with the same brand..maybe you could just pay the difference on a better tire. Im sure its a defective tire.

That's a lot of speculation before getting any info. Those tires have a 50,000 mile warranty so I wouldn't worry about replacements. I'd wait to see what Discount says before I started tire shopping.

So the answer I was give by the tire tech at Discount Tire is that it's a mold seam where the tires mold together. He said that it's not a crack down the middle and the fine line will eventually wear away. It's also due to the 33's being on a narrow rim even thought I"m running spacers.

Spacers won't have anything to due with tire wear on a narrow rim. I have the rocky mountains are am quite pleased with their wear and performance. With about 6K miles on them, I have long ago worn away the mold line. Get another opinion if it is indeed a crack.
