Hard Top Hoist DIY?
So taking a hard top on and off by yourself = impossible as far as I can tell... my wife and I can handle it no problems on my end.. hers well.. yes.. So i looked into buying a hoist system that bolts to the garage ceiling as I am sure lots of hard top owners have and indeed have already purchased but i figure that I can get similar parts on the cheep from Lowe's or HD and then just DIY...or Myself...
So has anyone done that or know if someone has? its basically a pulley or two and rope.. just need to figure out the best way to "hook" the rope to the hard top for lifting/landing. then get a a hand crank winch of some sort. if anyone has a idea about how to make it a electric winching let me know too.
Thanks

A few shots of a low ceiling garage DIY hoist. I have just under $110 bucks in it and about 3 hours of mostly easy work. I ran my cables through my attic to give me more clearance which took longer to do. Brake winch from Harbor Freight for $25 and I made my frame from round black iron pipe and a screw in Tee. Like other have said, many ways to make one.
