Default Heat from floor after new tires

Just upgraded to 33/12.5/15 Duratracs on my '12 sport with 3.21 gears. Just finished a 2.5 hour drive and noticed that my floor was warm durin the trip. Checked the dash and no lights or anything. Any idea why it's heating up? It's an Auto transmission and hasn't struggled a bit with the upgrade.

How often do you take 2.5 hour drives?

I would guess its just the exhaust and engine heat working up through the floor from the long drive, and likely nothing to do from the tires.

Get one of those IR temp readers, $30 at home depot. I use it on everything I have that gets hot. Extremely handy.

How long have you had your jeep? Is it just starting to get warm in your area. My guess is the heat has always been there and you are just noticing it because its gettign warmer outside. But what size were your stock tires....if you did go up an inch or two you may need a AEV procal to get the trans back into OEM operating range and shift points.

Could be related to the bigger tires (if they are bigger then the old ones) causing the transmission to have the torque converter unlocked a lot more. That would generate a lot more heat.

Your jeep will get warmer in the middle since that's where your driveshaft and transfer case is located. Trust me, trying yanking out your carpets and seeing how hot it can get at times on the sides where your legs are... Nothing to really be concerned about in my opinion, so no need to run out and buy anything to read temps on your jeep, just a waste of money. Long trips will make it hotter, just common sense...

Good to know! I used the AEV ProCal to adjust the speedometer and tire size. guess i will just have to get used to it!
