Just went to install my rock rails and the passenger one fit perfect and the drivers side won't fit. I started measuring and sure enough one of the mounts is 1/4" off. You'd think by now they would have a jig to ensure proper position. Disappointing experience... I can redrill the hole, but it's a pain in a $&S.

 

this isnt the first time ive seen / read about this on the rock rails. its very minor, but i do agree that you would think this is an easy thing to get right.


that said, for the money its hard to beat these rails. there are some nicer more expensive rails on the market but these seem to get great reviews (from me included) and they do their job well.

 

Yep... They seem stout. Redrilled and installed.

 

Same thing with mine. Rear-most mount on drivers side. Nothing a little carbide-tipped die grinder couldn't fix in 30 seconds though.

Really, really like the sliders though.

 

I helped install mine this weekend. Noticed that we had to grind more off of some washers than others.

 

Just bought the ace tube fenders and installed them. All of them were a bear to install. In the front, you have to install the forward most bolts so you can use the leverage to get the rear most bolts in the stock holes by pushing and slightly flexing the longest side of the tube. All in all, not too difficult to install as long as you put some cajones on them. I agree you can't beat their parts for the price. I really like the front for the way they look and flow. My son said the same thing I was thinking - the rear didn't seem to have the same flow of the body as the front and I think it is especially pronounce with the poison Spyder crusher corners installed.

 

If I was going to take a guess, I'm thinking that Ace has a jig set up to weld these. So all there stuff is probably pretty close to dead on.. But I can measure the samplings on two Jeeps and get some serious differences..

I measured both rails and it absolutely the rail. I think I said 1/4" off. Just say'n.
Not too much of a big deal just an annoyance.

 

Per their warranty, I think they'd replace them if you contacted ACE.
You'd just have to deal with the hassle of shipping & RMA.

 

I got mine last week - passenger side fit perfect..... driver side was off about 1/8" on the rear hole. I loosened both front bolts to let the rail drop down and then used a small pry bar and got the rear bolt started.

I love everything about the bars EXCEPT the grinding of the dang washers.
