Default Teraflex JK Hinge Carrier Install

I received mine today and thought I would share with everyone how it went. The carrier fits on great and is as easy as removing the screw from the old arms and putting on the TF hinged carrier and bolting it on. I had zero trouble with it. I am using the stock tire carrier put on the Teraflex Slim relocation bracket which mounts to the stock carrier to lift the tire up higher so for everybody with 35's like me it really helps clear the bumper and I would recommend it. The only thing that slowed down the install was finding bare metal under the tailgate arms and hinges and having to spray it with clear rustoleum enamel before I was comfortable with covering it up again. Total install took just about 1.5 hours with 20 minutes for clear coat to dry.

I'll add some pics of the install for yall to see and there are more in the link below.

Here are a couple more pics. I moved my cb antenna mount from upper right to lower left and it fits just fine. Also, got a small LED brake light that I attached to the spare with a small bracket for my 3rd brake light. This carrier is very well thought out and goes on perfect. I really really like the way it adds resistance to the tailgate. I can't just push it lightly from full open and watch it slam anymore. I actually have to put force into it to make it close now. Feels much stronger and more capable of carrying a heavy wheel/tire combo

If anyone has questions about the install feel free to ask and I'll answer if I know it.

Is there any reason why you flipped the CB antenna mount to the opposite corner?

I really like this product, just herd somany people talk about broken stock tire carriers it scares me to spend $500 then 3 months later have to spend the $200 more for the TF tire carrier. Keep posting up dates and thanks for posting the picks, looks great!

I flipped it over because I want to leave it on permanently and be able to park in my garage. When it was on the upper right corner it was about 6-8 inches over the top of the Jeep and was too tall for my garage door since the Jeep barely fits by an inch. I had enough slack in my antenna coaxial so I figured I'd give it a try and see how it works

I know what you're saying, but I just wanted to break up the purchases as I have other things that need attention. I will be purchasing the TF carrier soon, but have to let the bank acct recover a bit from spending so much on the JK

Was the relocation bracket necessary? Or did u just choose that for more clearance? I have 35's as well.
Also, I have not been paying much attention; but I take it these are available to consumers now? For how much? $500?
Hopefully I can find a dealer here in canada.
Thanks!

Relocation bracket is not necessary, it only is a higher platform to mount the tire to. I only got it because my tire was rubbing the bumper on the stock carrier.

They are available now, but not sure what their supply is like as of this moment. I seem to remember reading something that they can ship to canada. I would say call or email teraflex and ask. They're good people and will help if they can. And yes it is $500 plus shipping
