Default What would YOU do?

Hey guys! Haven't really posted here but I've been lurking for a while. I thought of posting one of those 'what should I do' threads, but I know that ultimately I'll do whatever's best for me, so I'll just see what the mindset is for the rest of you.

Anyway, I'm going to be getting my first Jeep in probably another week or two (have to close on a house, first) and am facing a dilemma. My budget is <$29,000, and I'm going between either a pre-2011 Unlimited Rubi or a 2011-'12 Sport with a few creature-comforts (Connectivity group, power windows, tow package).

What would YOU do? Older Rubicon with the 'older' interior or a 2012 with the new interior and new motor? Edit: this will be your daily driver.

Do your future plans eventually include changing out most of what a rubicon comes stock with? If I were looking at a used rubi or a new sport, I'd probably go with the new sport. Longer warranty, new motor, new interior, and if the future allowed me to get into some serious mods, the sport is still a great base to start at. That's what I would do

Great question- I should have touched-up on that. For me, if I had a Rubi I would have no other plans for it. Since it'll be a daily-driver the tires won't go beyond 33" and I doubt the lift would increase.

If I bought a new sport, I'd probably only plan on swapping a stock Rubi lift with its wheels/tires (maybe a locker down the road) since I see them for quite cheap on the for sale pages.

I lurked for a while, glad I got the 12. The new engine was the big factor.

I'd go with a 2012, I myself might be trading in my current JK for a JKU when the 2013 models come out, but only if I can get a smoking deal on a 2012. To me, you could save on gears and engine mods for a while with the new motor, and if you aren't going to be wheeling a lot then you can piece it together bit by bit. I'm sure a supercharged 3.6 will be awesome when they finally come out with a kit for it.

Tough decision, I see why you're asking it now! Older model rubi that doesn't need any mods vs. Base model 2012 that will require a little bit of money. Honestly I'd still take the new one just for ease of warranty with the dealer and of course the new motor. And let's be honest, you WILL be throwing money at modding whichever one you get... Don't lie haha

A little update: I've decided to go with a 2 door instead of the Unlimited. I found a local '12 Sport that I'm probably going to get next week

Crush, Connectivity package, AC, 3.73s. MSRP around $25.5k, can get it for $22.6k. Seems like an awesome deal. All it really needs is some Rubi wheels/tires, and I see them for sale all the time. I just really want to get rid of the ugly steelies, lol.

Hopefully I'll be posting up in a few days with pics!!
