Default 7.5 Wide Rim

So today i go to the tire shop to have my 315/75/16 GY Duratracs on and the guy comes in a tell me, Sir there is a problem. OH NOES! apparently the Crager soft 8's are a 7.5 inch wide rima and he cant mount them on that size rim. He said i have no choice but to go with 285/75/16. Not happy about this.

Is there a different tire i could go with? I wanna go 34-35 tall. I know the 285 is 33 but its not a 35. And boy did those 315/75/16 look sweet sitting on the ground....

Are yot sure the craigers are 7.5 thought they only came in 8's? Not that it would matter at all go to a mom/pop type tire store there is NO PROBLEM mounting those tires on a 7.5 wheel.

If u check out Nitto's website I think you can put on some 34" Terra Grapplers on a 7.5" rim

I thought the same thing. But he showed me the measurement. How safe is this?

Soft 8's come as wide as 10" per Cragars specs from their website.
EDIT: if you're not comfortable mounting the tires you want on the 7.5 wides (which is Ok to do), try trading for a wider set...

Tons of us are running 35's on stock rims, which are 7.5 wide with no problems.

I'll have to see if the installer will mount them.

Any other thoughts on mounting a 12.5 wide tire on 7.5 rim? Is it really safe.

Been running 35x12.5 on jeep stock wheels for couple of years now. Driven to Moab from Illinois twice and back including wheeling. Everything still runs excellent with no problems. As others have said many are doing this.
