Default 33's with 3:73 gears

Is anyone out there running this combination (33" tires and 3:73 gears) and is happy with performance and fuel economy.

I know it might be a silly question since the 08's come with these gears. I am concerned with the fact that the fuel economy will be greatly affected.

Well, I just installed 35's on mine with the 3.73's. So far, it honestly isn't bad, but I don't do any hardcore/rock climbing type of stuff either; mostly casual off-roading. Haven't had them on long enough to figure mileage yet though. Power is affected, yet sufficient, but I expected that.

I just installed this setup on my unlimited sahara and haven't recalibrated my speedo yet. I've tested it and seem to be doing 73mph when it shows 70. The computer says 17.1 at this speed, and high 13s around town. Should be actually a little better once recalibrated. The overdrive kicks off alot on hills, and when going over 70. And that drinks the fuel and is hard on your engine. I wish I had 4.10s

just a reminder you're jeeps dash MPG reading will be off seeing as how your jeep no longer has 10 tenths in a mile... i went from 29 inch tires to 33 inch tires and now i get .8 tenths in a mile... making it difficult to figure fuel economy (as if i cared enough anyway) also good for resale lol drive 1000 miles only records 800....(i'll never sale it). when i am showing 62 on speedo i am doing 70

at 70 i don't care for my gears. (33s with 3.73)
put the baby in four low and it feels great! it feels like u could break a guys neck if u put the pedal to the metal.

EDIT... now i see u said should be more accurate after calibrated. sorry lol haven't had sleep in a LONG time

bloomer made a good point, depending on your stock tire size will determine how bad your speedo is off along with your mpg. His jeep had 29" tires while mine had 32" tires. I agree 3.73s at hwy speed sucks

let me put it this way... i was well on my way to buying a locker for the front but backed out realizing im not gonna stick with 3.73.
im not saying don't get 33's because you will still love it. im just saying once it isn't a DD anymore i would rather have lower gears

Well...i have a diesel with 4.10 gears and 33 inch tires and i am not happy so i really wonder if someone with 3.73 feels ok. Mine is autotrans so manual ofcourse gives some more room to play with. My auto when using cruise kicks overdrive off too easily on small inclines and shallow hills, but with my foot on pedal i am able to hold it a little longer.

thats me... 33s with 3.73 gears. manually calculating mpgs i get about 17 mpg (just about 315 miles to about 18.5 gal) as a DD. so not too bad. power is ok unless ur on the hwy. then like everyone else is saying, my auto downshifts at the hint of an incline . 410s are definitely in my future.
