Default question about lift kit

Hi, Im relatively new to the jeep community. I have a 2011 jk 2 dr. I got last may. the only mods/upgrades I've done to the jeep are front and rear quadratec floor mats, and i have 33"x12.5" general grabbers on 15"x10" procomp 152's with some serious backspacing. (magnaflow cat-back and k&n 77 CAI are on the way, will be here in a couple days).
Now with those 33"x12.5" tires and the backspacing...my tires stick out way past the fenders and i hit the fenders a lot with the tires. There's not much room to do some serious offroading and not bottom out and rip a fender off.

Im good with putting in intakes and exhausts and basic stuff but Im not comfortable doing a lift installation myself for fear that ill screw something up. And Im sure i don't have every necessary tool needed to do it. but i know what i want.
Im want the aev 3.5" dualsport sc suspension from quadratec.
My question is: is there a shop in Pittsburgh or if anyone knows that a shop will install a lift kit if i buy the parts??
I don't want to get screwed over on someone telling me what i need and what i need to spend on if i can get the whole kit myself. And save money by buying my parts and just having a shop install it.

Thank you!

Well 3.5 in lift I think would be to much for just 33", I have 35"'on 2.5 and is perfect. It's not a really complicated install, just time consuming for a beginner. Do a google search for lift kit shops in your area.

You should consider either a :
  1. 1.5" TF leveling kit (coil)
  2. 2" lift kit (spacers or coils)
  3. 2.5" budget boost kit

Any of the three can give you enough clearance for the 33s?..Its really simple to install the lift yourself with basic hand tools, floor jack and jackstands...Below are a couple of write ups I got on this forum...

Yeah this...or if you cant get this going, you don't know anyone who works in a garage or who might have the tools? Working on your rig your self is very rewarding! Im not very well versed but I'm lucky enough to have friends who are (and are patient enough to work with me on installs). I love the satisfaction of a job well done and I would encourage anyone who is passionate about their rig to make an effort with the right guidance. As far as a lift I would skip the BB, I did a sky jacker BB and a year later upgraded to a full coil. If you are happy with the 33" tires stick with a 2.5" and look into a coil lift. I have read a lot of positive feed back about Rock Krawlers 2.5. I have an AEV lift, I love it feel like it's the closest thing to stock, if this is a DD then I would def recommend AEV. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum from the right people, the most important thing is for you to be happy in the end.
Welcome and best wishes

Thanks for all the info.
I was looking into a BB but i hear about needing control arms and brake line brackets and sway bars. and if i do a 2" bb, how is that different from getting maybe a 2.5" aev lift? i don't want to do a budget boost with just coils springs and spring spacers...then find out i need to get longer control arms. Then a steering stabilizer then a sway bar, etc. when i could have gotten all the parts in the first place. but if a BB will honestly get me what i need, 2" of true lift to give my tires more clearance, then ill actively peruse that option.

As for the grabbers...i love them! The tread is so aggressive and deep, it compliments the jeep 100%. especially with the wide look of the back spacing.

Thanks for the info and any more tips and ideas are appreciated! i love my jeep!

I have the 3.5 aev lift and I think it's great, but once u get it, you re going to want 35s. By the way northridge4x4 has the lift for 1700 shipped, I know quadratec has it for 1675 but 100 to ship, FYI.

All lift kits come with instructions and pretty straight forward. Just get a buddy, it can be done with a simple tool kit. So go for it. I've done all my lift kits, with a little help from a buddy

If you are set on just a 2" lift (coil) then you will at a bare minimum need at least:
  1. Longer shocks
  2. Or shock extensions if running stock shocks
  3. Rear extension brake line brackets

-Your steering stabilizer will work fine unless it's already leaking.

-You can either get front swaybar disconnects for convenience or just remove your front sway bar links every time you offroad and want the most flex/articulation.

-If after you install the lift and the Jeep feels flighty/Darty you can get adjustable front lower control arms to correct your caster. I ran a TF 2.5" coil lift and didn't need the adj FCAs.

-After the lift your axles may be slightly off, meaning it may be stick out more to the passenger or drivers side. An adjustable track bar can fix that, but it's more cosmetic and won't harm the jeep if you choose to leave it alone...

BTW, how is the clearance of your wheels. Love the 15x10" look/stance. Could you post some pics of the clearance of your front inner tire. I want to see how far the inner tire is from the frame & sway bar. I have been thinking about getting the same rims but plan on running 35x14.5x15 tires instead.....Thanks...
