So, I just installed a Rampage HiLift jack mount today and am concerned that someone who knows what they are looking at will just walk right off with it while I am in the store! I was going to drill an additional hole in the base of the mount and use a padlock. Does anyone have any clever Ideas to secure the entire jack from HiLift HiJackers??

 

Paint it pink, and bedazzle it. No one will touch it then.

 

Use a gun lock on it the one that is for auto pistols. That is what i use

 

Yes, a pistol lock is what I use as well.

 

Used a cable wrapped around the jack then behind the hood hinge with a pad lock, but after a week the jack started rusting, so now it sits in the garage until I actually need it. The cable was $10 at the hardware store.

 

Gunlock sounds like a good suggestion! Maybe if I bedazzle the gunlock as well, then that should really be a deterrent!!! Well, judging by some of the jeep colors that have been coming out lately, maybe some ppl might like it!!!

 

 

Here's how I secured mine on my OR-Fab tire carrier:

 

I had the same jack mount you do and I actually was somewhat worried too about theft. I also had the problem that the bottom securing wingnut would always work its way loose/off while offroad no matter how tight I cranked it down. After my 3-4 wingnut/bolt replacement I finally switched to a nylon lock nut. Yes, I have to use at least one wrench (and a leatherman or second wrench) to put the jack on and off the mount, but now it never rattles loose, and I'm pretty sure anyone who thinks they have a quick score off my tailgate will reevaluate when they realize they need tools.

I used a bolt that was about the same size at the wingnut/bolt that came with the mount. You want it to be secure and keep the base of the jack from moving around (another problem I had with this mount before). Also don't get a bolt much longer than you NEED, as the nylon lock washer won't be easy to just spin on past extra threads.
