You must forgive...
Hello,
I bought my Jeep about a year ago used bc they are outrageous new... and used vehicles are actually a better investment bc they dont depreciate as much in the first two years.... ANYWAYS on to things that matter... Like how little knowledge I have of what i need to get a 4inch lift on my jeep. I see some packages for 500 and then the same brand same height lift for 1899 with a few other things that idk what they do... if someone could give me some insight into this i would appreciate it b/c im lost an i dont want to spend unnesscary money obviously.....

There is a ton of information on this and other forums about specific lifts. Typically price is related to what components are included. The common theme you will read for a 4 inch lift is know what you're getting into... With that much lift, most will ask what size tire you plan on running (37s) are the common suggestion with 4 inches, and most will tell you that at a minimum you need adjustable lower front control arms, an adjustable front trackbar and a new driveshaft. A 4 inch lift will start getting real expensive real quick, but if you feel you saved the money on the front end by buying used, then maybe cost isn't as much of an issue.
Ok cool, so im really not planning on doing much crawling bc I live in the middle of the flatest most desolate place in america bahaha... but i do love the way they look all jack up an purrty hahahaha.... i crack myself up. But i would like to run 35. im afraid of getting to much tire bc the 3.8 is gutless as im sure you all know haha
think you might be able to point me in the direction to a link you would suggest for this particular set up... Id really love to try an get the best bang for buck but keep buck lower.

Spend some time looking through show and tell threads, especially for 35s if that's the size you want to run, you will be able to see what lift options guys are running. You will have a lot of open wheel well with a 4" lift, I would look into a 2.5 or 3 inch kit. When it comes to the price differences, you get what you pay for i.e. adjustable control arms vs fixed control arms vs drop brackets, etc, etc. Take your time, do plenty of research, search the site and fire away with any questions.
If i don't rock climb do I need all that stuff in reality i mean would be ride on the highway be that big a difference? Ive been hunting all around the forums haha well trying to deciper the tech talk the left side of my brain in pretty much scrambled. I like this one so far. would it have everything i need to just install an tear ass out of the garage or would i have to modify a bunch of other stuff as well....? Bc i have no idea what adjustable control arms do or any of that

So it sound like you are looking for a road friendly lifted JK
Unfortunately most the stuff is to make the Jeep more road friendly.. adjustable control and track bars put your suspension back closer to stock angles. This results in a more stock feel..
When you lift a Jeep you are throwing off some very important and scientific measurements the car manufactors have built the Jeep around.. So most these kits try to get you back to those measures.
You could just throw in larger coils and shocks but your steering wheel might feel disconnected at times and the ride quality will be bad.
I suggest you look at the AEV 3.5 SE kit it is very road friendly and highly engineered for good angles and feel.
Also important for you to know is that larger tires are going to drastically take away from your already unpowered Jeep.. You might need to regear the jeep to get back to near stock. Some like to add chips and superchargers but regearing is the only real way to get nearest to stock.
Read, read, read.. that is the best way to figure out what to do

Here is the rule that I followed.
Ask yourself what you will be doing with your jeep?
A) Rock Crawler
B) Daily Driver, light trails, and Beach.
If A, spend the money and get a full 8 arm kit. That will run you close to if not more than 2k.
If B, look for a budget lift. These lifts dont come with control arms. They use brackets to lift and correct geometry.
These can range anywhere from a few hundred to 1500 dollars.
I would also stay away from a 4in lift if you are going with Option B. I would look to keep it to about 3.
I went with a 4in Rancho lift. I love it, but I would have concverns about the strength of the brackets on such a tall lift if it were any other brand.

Given you plan to keep it on the street, I would recomend going with a budget boost kit aroun 2". Then use the money you saved on the lift to get flares that you like. A JK can clear a 35" tire with no lift and flat flares, though a little lift looks better.
I got a set of 4-door Rubicon coils for free on this forum which will lift my 2-door about 1.5-2". By cutting my factory flares I will be able to clear 35's at no cost. Not the best for rocks but it does the job on the street.

I ran a zone three inch lift on my 08 jk it was about 550 bucks i did add a dual steering stabalizer(maybe spelled wrong) for added protection. It fit 315/70/17 and it only took about 5 hours to install. It was shocks and springs and imo it does fine, mostly mud though no big rocks...on a different note those tires killed my power basically a gear so i bought a bully dog programmer...save ur money it didnt help at all. I called them an they said it wouldnt help much because the 3.8 engine wasnt big enough. So now im looking to upgrade ring an pinion from 3:21 to 4:10 should get me back to stock like the guy above mentioned!!
