im trying to decide between the warn vr8000 or the engo e9000. i have done a lot of research and the warn has the reliability but the engo has a very good warranty. i have spoke to both warn and engo and to warranty the warn you have to physically take it off and send it to a "sevice center" for repair whereas the engo you just make a phone call and diagnose. then they either ship replacement parts or if no repair can be made they ship you a new winch and you return your old on their dime. another plus for the engo is when you call an actual person answers the phone and not some recording. just looking for opinions as i have have found really good deals on both. there is $164 difference between the winch with mounting plate shipped. im just trying to justify the extra money for the warn or just buy the better warranted alternative and save some cash. thanks for any opinions or advice.

 

When you're out in the thick of it and the winch is your only way out, isn't reliability what you are going to count on the most?

 

I'm for Warn all the way. Even tho I never actually had to use the warranty it's good piece of mind, and If anything ever did break on it, all I had to do was get it to the 4 wheel parts store I got it from, they'd do all the work for me as far as taking it off and getting Warn to fix it, so that's also less problems and "worry waiting" for you...

 

I have an ENGO 10000. So far have not had any problems or read about any either but have to confess only used mine twice. The ENGOs also came equal or above the Warn in that famous winch shootout (Warn won because manual was "better" - kind of subjective). There are a few threads here about folks using and abusing their winches. I suggest you check them.

 

I went with the engo 9000. I read reviews and checked out the winch shootout and the warn and engo were the only 2 out of about 10 to pass every test and were still working flawlessly at the end. Warn is a great product but for someone on a budget I'd say the engo will be just as reliable if you take care of it.

 

Thanks for the input guys. The only other "pro" for the engo is that it draws a lot less amps at max load. I think it was like 317 amps or close to that. I just wonder what the stall out would be on the warn vr? The shootout said the engo stalled at either 12 or 14k lbs.

 

I would go with the one with more power.... No joke if they will fix it why go for the one that's a lower rating...

 

Just judging from the warranty standpoint I'm thinking i'll go with the engo unless someone can steer me otherwise. The price makes the wife a lot happier too.

 

I have a Superwinch and it has been the best investment yet! The one I bought is a submersible and has been put to the test, it has not disappointed. I would give them a look if you haven't yet.
