I have 32 in tires now, looking to go to a 33, can i use the 32 as a spare or could that damage gears or axles etc if needed to be used

Spare tire has to be exactly the same size as the rest on 4WD vehicles.

It's a good idea for the spare to be the same size.

If you need it to get off the trail you can use a smaller tire but you would want to keep lockers unlocked and use 4wd only when needed otherwise you could hurt your drive train.

If all you care about is getting home, then just slap on any ole size.

Don't skimp, get a full-size spare and rotate it in.

Pretty much.

I bought 5 tires to avoid being in this situation. I also do a 5 tire rotation to keep them all close in wear. Not that a brand new 35 of the same make would cause massive amounts of strain on the drive train when being thrown on with tires that have 10k miles on them.

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with a full size spare.
