Default 38" in stock axles

I have a 2008 jk currently running 35. Thinking of going to 38's. I know I need to re-gear but should I just save the money for new axles or will the stock be fine

Tough question, all depends on how you use it. The usual upgrades to the front axle are certainly recommended, even at you current 35's really. We have a member of our group running heavy Nitto 40's on his stock 44 with gussets and sleeves and yes he wheels it on real trails but he is a very careful driver. He also knows it will fail at some point and is planning to upgrade to a 60 at that point. All comes down to you. Sorry for no clear answer.

Well I don't get to do any wheeling down here in south Louisiana but some of our club members do make a trip up to Arkansas once a year. I'm getting her geared up for when I do make that trip. Do you think I'll be fine with those 38's for a few months. This is my second vehicle and only use it around town

both axles will fail...its only a matter of time, you will also have to address the steering at some point,it will fail also...nothing on our jeeps were designed to handle the loads those tires will subject them to...all your bushings and unit bearings will also have a much shorter lifespan....i have seen it happen time and time again...

Start with C gussets, sleeves, and a truss. Not bulletproof but it will go for a good while if you are easy on it.

38s on the street. Would be ok with a regear but I would be worried about axles and stuff. That guy just posted a threat a week ago about blowing up his rear 44 on 40

Don't just go 37 I went down that road I started breaking stuff not worth it unless you have new axles. They do look sick though.

Why spend 2 grand on tires, kill your steering box, and deal with the axle issues just for the street?
