Default Cabin Air - Custom

Although I love the "natural" filter that occurs when the top is off, up here in Alberta that is at best, a 4-5 month option I drive off-road for work and every km is either mud/gravel slinging or a dust bomb. As a result of the visible dust coming through the vents I thought I would do a custom upgrade to the 2011+ cabin filter. So I started measuring and pondering how do I fit something in there that would work. Well after lots of patience from the NAPA guy opening boxes of cabin air filters for me. I came across one that I thought had close to the right measurements. So 18$ investment and a little luck I trimmed exactly 3 3/4 inches off a Ford windstar cabin filter and low and behold I snuck it in there and it fit like a glove! Unbelievable. The Napa part number is Envirosheild 4807. I will try an upload the photo's.
It will be interesting to see how it looks in 6 months.
Just thought I would share this with the 07-10 owners.

so what you're saying is that there is no oem filter available for the 2011+?? or is it because the oem is mediocre? I'm replacing mine with my next oil change and haven't done my research yet..

No I was being cheeky...the 2007 to 2010 models do not have a cabin filter, however the 11 and 12's do to my understanding.

What did the final dimensions end up being for the filter?

Mine I cut from a $5 HVAC filter I bought at Lowes. Enough material to make 8 cab filters.
