I attempted to climb a concrete sewage drain the other day and ofcourse something starts making a flapping noise when I get back on the road. I look under the jeep and the boot on my front driveshaft was torn up. What do I do. Replace the whole shaft? Or fix the boot?

 

Is the rubber boot for CV joint damaged too?If not,just take off the slip joint boot and run it,keep it lubed and you'll be fine.We ran ours for an year before changing it

 

yes it seems like the rubber surrounding it is kinda torn up i will take shaft off and look more at it. Can you keep running the shaft if you fix the joint.

 

how can you keep that lubed? thats what happened with my rear shaft, the boot was torn and all the grease flung out and ran it dry. i've since replaced both shafts and gotten away from the stock crap

edit: i see that youre talking about in the middle, i tore the boot at the round joint...
