Transmission went out
I have a 2 door 2007 JK with about 70,000 miles on it. I have a 3" Zone Offroad lift with 33x10 tires. Would this lift an tire combo have anything to do with my transmission breaking? I'm having to get a new transmission and don't want the same problem to happen again down the road. I've put about 35,000 mile on it since the lift. Thanks

I was merging onto the interstate. I wasn't flooring it or anything...3000 RPMs tops. When it was shifting into the last gear, it slipped out of gear and the RPMs shot up to 5000. I pulled off, turned it on and off, then started going again. When I got up to about 35 mph it did the same thing. I pulled off again, before I turned it off, I tried putting it in every gear. In every one it acted like it was in neutral. I turned it off an on, started going again, but this time at a low speed I felt some vibrations and heard kindof a grinding noise. At that point, I stopped and looked around the engine for busted vacuum hoses or anything loose...nothing. Brought it to a shop and they said something broke in the transmission
Seems like clutch packs wore out. I don't know if you maintain your tranny, but having the right amount of fluid in there is very, very important. Changinng tranny fluid about every 50k miles is also very important, or more often if it overheats. If maintenance is left behind, then no tranny will last much. I think 70k miles is too early for an auto tranny to go out. But bigger tires aren't the problem, unless you're in too high of a gear, or doing burn outs every chance you get.

Sorry for the worthless thread jack. I just couldn't help myself, as my 2010 JKU auto won't chirp the tires unless the road is slippery

I changed my fluid right at around 50,000. And I don't really get down in my engine much. Sometime getting out of my parking lot I have to hit it a little to get across traffic. They told me the fluid was full when they checked it too. I guess it was just an uncommon thing. I hope it won't happen again
