Default 4" Long Arm + 1.75" Spacers?? Thoughts

So here's the basic idea... I just got my JKUR last week. It has a Teraflex 4" Long Arm lift and aftermarket CV shafts. I've since found that my break over angle is much less than it was with my YJ on 6.5" of lift and 35s. Best I can figure, with some guesstimation is that I need to go about another inch higher to achieve the same break over angle I'm accustom to. I'm thinking of doing a 1.75", or 2" spacer lift on the coil springs to get me to where I want to be. I have two questions in doing this though:

1. Will I need to change out the shocks if I add the spacers?
2. Will my pinion angles be too low and cause drive line vibrations/issues if I do this?

I'm ultimately wanting to toss 37s on to take part in some of the JK Experience trips as well as achieving the break over I'm familiar with. I know the 37s may help with the pinion angle a bit, but with about 80% tread left on the 35s it will be some time before they go on. I'm having a rough time getting used to the wider/longer stance I have with this thing and wouldn't mind taking one other item out of the driving style equation.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Whoa dude, a 2in spacer on the Tera 4in coils is gonna put you in the stratosphere. You'll be teetering around like a Cop 4x4 jk and dred a 10mph cross wind on the interstate. Here's what I did, Tera4in w/1in spacer, 1in bodylift, flat fenders, 37's. While I could have done without the BL or the 1in spacer cause I was running flats, it was already on when I ran a BB with 35's so I left it. I am running this same set-up on 40's now.

oh, mine is the shortarm kit btw

Also, you really need to find out the extended length of your shocks to see if you could use them. If they are the same length for the 6in longarm, yes you could.
Driveshaft- You'll be in a vibe and or CV chattering range you may not want unless you want to deal with poor handling with castor.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm new to the JK world so trying to figure things out. I mostly wanted a total of 5-6 inches of lift so that I can eventually run the 37s. I'm not too keen on body lifts so that's why I was thinking of th 1.5 to 2 inch spacers. What about the drive shafts and shocks? I'm assuming I'd need to swap out shocks, but maybe not drive shafts?

Being an ol' YJ guy myself, I understand the "more lift = bigger tires" thing. 4" on a JK ( as mentioned will get you 37's fairly easily. Enjoy the JK!

I had edited my post, sorry i type kinda slow. I would unbolt the bottom of the tera(assuming) shock frt and rear and get the extended measurement, check these against the 4-6in longarm shock lengths that tera gives with their longarm. It's possible that u may have a 3-4in shock on, its best to check and make sure.
I would think that your driveshafts would be good if they are for a 4in longarm lift. What brand ?? If u know then you could call them for the specs and recommended lift.

Does you current lift have new control arms that are adjustable? If so, then you can most likely get away with the spacers as you will have some adjustabiliy for the caster and rear pinion angle if need be. As far as shocks go, it is basically just measuring them to see if they are long enough. I would guess your shafts would be fine if they are already aftermarket... but again, measuring to make sure would be wise.

What about your track bars. Are they adjustable? Otherwise you axles most likley will be slightly off center.

I am not sure, but you may need longer sway bar links too.

I do have adjustable control arms. Here's a link to the lift I have. TeraFlex Elite LCG JK 4 Inch Long Arm Suspension System, Best Deal on TeraFlex Elite LCG JK 4 Inch Long Arm Suspension Systems.

I'm a bit of a dumb a$$ when it comes to a lot of this suspension stuff. My YJ was easy, all plug n play. I'm an Electrical guy by trade so... Ya. I'm working to find out what all exactly has been done to my Jeep as I didn't build it, I cheated and bought this one... I've built two and know very well that buying it built(ish) is always cheaper.

Just do a. 1.25 " body lift and don't worry about messing with any suspension or driveshaft issues. Have you seen a body lift ( not 2" tho ) on a jku? It doesn't look noticeable like other vehicles u may be thinking

That would be fine if I was only concerned with accommodating larger tires. But my biggest concern is increasing my break over angle to something a bit closer to my YJ.

If anything a small body lift or maybe a small front suspension spacer like 3/4 inch. Other than that, trim your fenders, and get your 37's.
