Offroad evolution valving
Hi guys I'm hoping that Chris at EVO or someone will chime in but I'm wondering if the king coilovers that are laying in my garage can be valved to Evo specs for the bolt on coilover kit and what that would cost? They are the right kind right size etc. I'm unsure about the spring rates though. Should I sell these and just buy the kit or what's more cost effective? Thanks
the number one benefit of coilovers is they can be rebuilt and revalved....the coil rates can also be easily changed. to go to evo spec would have to be done through ore. u can have them custom valved to your liking at king. give em a call for pricing. they are down in garden grove. not too far from you....maybe a 30-45min drive.
spring rates should be numbered on the coils. i think most kits run 12" 250lb top and lower coils up front. Rears are more touchy depending on the setup. most go with 200lb/200lb. I have seen some guys on here use a 150lb 10" on top and a 12" 250lb on bottom. It depends on the weight of the rig(bumper/spare/tire carrier/load requirement/etc.). Several guys who bought the bolt on kit are happy, while others wanted to customize and changed the springs around. all based on preference. thats the beauty of the coilovers....u can make them what you want. The issue u will run into with this is I don't think evo sells the bracketry alone without the coilovers.
