Default Too anal??

I'm wanting to installed C gussets and LCA skids in the near future. After they are welded on, I know they need to be painted but what about the inside? It seems to me that they'll most definitely rust, just not visible. Am I just being a little too anal? Just hit them with some paint on the outside after the install and call it good right?

I was just thinking about exactly this the other day. I'm going to have to take a look.

I have the pure jeep gussets and they are 3/4 solid plate so you can easily paint everything without worry. I know some of the others are more like a bracket that wrap around and are exposed inside. They may be stronger so I guess it just depends on which you are willing to sacrifice.

A welding primer could be used on the insides and then paint the rest with POR15. You probably will need to paint your axles about once a year.

I use high heat BBQ paint on all my welds right after to prevent future rust. Always works well for me.
