Default Spare tire rattle

So I recently upgraded my tires to 305/70 r17 Terra's. I knew going in to this decision that there was going to be some rattling probably. Sure enough there was a rattle so I got some larger tailgate bump stops. The rattle is a little better but still there, and I can actually see my spare tire vibrate when I go over bumps. My question is, how concerned do I need to be about the spare tire moving around/rattling. Second, is my only option left to buy a tire carrier? Thanks.

Depends how much you like your tailgate. If you don't address the rattle it will eventually break the welds. Only real solution is a tire carrier.

Pull your spare off, throw it in the back and get a tire carrier ASAP. Actually seeing your tire vibrate is never a good thing.

Either a tire carrier with the rear bumper or teraflex tire carrier which is sweet.

Did not want to hear that... Well now the search is on for a good tire carrier. I like the look of the AEV one or the LOD. Anyone know anything good or bad about these?

It's your top hinge on your gate I would suspect. Stand by the spare and hit the top sidewall of the tire from behind, you'll hear the rattle at the top hinge. That's what happened to my 08, My 2012 I installed a Teraflex hinged carrier. I'm not taking any chances, I'm getting the weight off of the gate.

Honestly other than the more expensive one being adjustable which you don't need that's all I can think of lol. There's a video on YouTube about the tereflexs tire carrier and it explains it very well. Check it out

yeah the Terra Grappler's are heavy too. I had 295/70/17 Terra's on the stock carrier awhile ago, went with TF's hinge because the heavy Terra's blew my stock hinges. Clunked up and down real bad.

The cheaper one you will need to re-use your current tire carrier mount. The more expresive one comes with a aluminum mount that allows the tire to be moved in or out and up and down depend on what size tire is used.
