Default Been Too Long Since I've Had a Jeep- Can Current Set Up Handle Light Trail Rides?

Hey Gents,

It's safe to say that I have been spending WAY too much time on this forum since I found it just devouring information and reaching out to some fellow Jeepsters in the New Jersey area about meeting up for different trail rides and Meet & Greets over the next few weekends.

The irony is that I still don't have my jeep and won't until Saturday morning. I'm going to be spending Saturday doing some light mods to my JKU Freedom Edition 6Sp. Exhaust, bumpers, lights, audio, CB, Intake, nothing too crazy. If you're interested in keeping an eye on my build as it progresses over the next few weeks/months you can check it out here-

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...thread-267589/

BUT MY REAL QUESTION WAS THIS: Will I be able to handle some light trail rides on my stock tire and suspension set up? Keep in mind that she's brand new and I want to make sure I take the necessary steps to break her in proper. But once that's tackled is it worth me messing around in her stock or should I hold off until April when I get my lift/tires installed? Thanks for the advice

Cheers

Other than belly clearance issues, JKU's are very capable off road even in stock form. I didn't have 50 miles on my '12 before it was in the dirt. I say go for it. Don't push it too hard and get used to how it feels. You'll appreciate your upgrades even more when you know what you're upgrading from.

JK's are the most capable platform out of the box that Jeep has ever produced, go for it!

Absolutely yes! Play with it stock. My gas tank skid and muffler got all banged up when I was at stock height, and I loved it.

You will be very surprised what a stock JK will do. You will be just fine. If a stock Rubicon can do the Rubicon. .. You will be just fine in yours for playing on some trails. You're already skided so tired gtg. Just don't go alone and get into trouble. Congrats on your purchase.

It blew my mind what my stock wrangler JK made it through. I truly was in awe. You'll have a blast.

I barely broke 200miles on my jeep when I was taking it on the trail. Completely stock with the wrangler sra tires and all. The ride was a little rough since I didn't air down much at all, but she was a goat

With the new BLD system a stock JK is better than a lifted TJ with 33s and LS diffs. You will be amazed when you compare it to older models.

Totally agree with all previous posts, I had my '08 Sahara on some moderate creek beds, rocks, and a few hill climbs before the first oil change.

You will be fine on light trails... Worst case you might scrape your rock sliders or skid plates but that is what they are there for.. I wouldn't worry much about getting any body damage
