I have a 13' jk with 37s and 2nd set of G2 4.88s in the rear. I am getting a wining noise when under acceleration, and when all the torque comes off the gears from the driveshaft, sound goes away. Started when around the 3.5 hr mark of a roadtrip to NM coming into a small town and came off of cruise control from 67ish mph. I have not reached 70mph. About 500ish miles on gears after 2 sessions of the 20 mile 50mph breakin.

Is this normal or common?

You mean it is the second set of gears that have been installed in the rear?

I have the same thing on my new 2013 JKUF. It almost sounds like a faint fire engine siren at times. Is this the same thing you hear? My is an auto tranny with 3.73 gearing.

Nope, not normal at all. They were not set up properly. Take it back.

I wouldn't worry unless its really loud. depends on the quality if the gears aswell. I'm not familiar with the g2 but I've noticed yukons to be more quiet than superiors in my experience. You can also check the diff plug to see if there's shavings. Mine whine a tad bit coasting but there's no issues.

If you an hear it, it's making too much noise.

Hmm. Why is it on a second set? Did you have issues with the first? They really shouldn't be whining if they were set up correctly.
