Default Replacement Radiator Fan for 2012 JK

So I've been reading that the Spal fan won't work with 2012+ because they switched to a variable speed motor and the replacement fans are only available through the dealer for $900+.

Anyone know of another fan that would work?

Thanks

I like a good water crossing and have a hard time staying out of the mud. The stock fan is not sealed and has been know to fail when it gets gunked up. I have another thread about a kill switch for the fan to minimize the risk of it going south.

I know the inevitable "stay out of the water" comments are coming but it's one aspect of wheeling that I really like.. Really wish I could use that Spal fan because it's sealed up and no chance of getting mud/debris in it.

I don't think it's very common or likely.. unless you're asking for it.

It's common. It's happened to a few of my friends as well as myself. I just replaced mine with a Spal. I have an 07. I wasn't aware that they didn't work on '12. I thought mine was a variable speed fan too. IDK, I just know than when I kicks on now, I know it. Sounds like a hover craft lol.

did it die from regular use? or death by debris? Also, i'm not 100% sure the Spal wont work but I did hear a few reports of it... i'll dig a little deeper.

... and just install a switch for your fan with a 30A relay. Thats what I did after several replacements. The SPAL was never an option for me as it doesnt pull as much CFM as stock, and this thing used to see 1 hour each way of 110* Houston traffic. The replacements from Advanced wer $135 with a lifteime warranty.
