I had to sell my 07 sahara about six months ago but am now looking for a new one. Anyways I found a 2011 with 4.5 AEV lift and 35s. Will I need to regear I am pretty sure it is running 3.73 gears right now.

Also If anyone is running a setup like this tell me how it drives compared to stock? I have read that the AEV lifts are top of the line.

 

What trans? Our 6 speed 2011 has 35's and 3.73's. We're re-gearing to 4.88 this weekend, but it all depends on what your going to do with it. If you aren't going to wheel it much you could say it's bearable in flatter areas. In the northeast there are plenty of hills so it's a problem for us. Compared to stock, its a dog.

Why don't you take it for a drive and see what you think for yourself?

We are located in Northern Jersey.

 

It's an auto and I live in central Texas so hills are not really an issue. This will be my daily driver but will also be off road once or twice a month.

 

Some will say yes you need to re-gear, some may say it's not necessary. Take it on an extended test drive and see how you like it. Good luck with your potential purchase!!

 

It also has c gussets, heavy duty ball joints, and axel sleeves. I am new to the aftermarket stuff. Is ther anything I would need to do right away?

Thats a great start... my opinion would be to re-gear, it's a world of difference. I would make sure to research the one you are looking at buying, was it a mall crawler or did someone really wheel it? I know some guys in town gusset/sleeve/gear and all that jazz just to say they did and just in case. Not a big fan of getting into a already modified Jeep, you never know how the work was done and most of the fun is modifying our jeeps.

I would say also - whats the price difference and what markup are you really paying for all of those mods?
