Default Question for somebody with ProComp black wheels

I just got my ProComp 7189's today. They are the flat cast black style wheels.

I was looking them over and noticed that the powder coating does not go into the holes were the lugs are. The holes have overspray in them but not coated perfectly like the face of the wheel.

All the wheels are the same but I thought I would see if anyone else noticed this with their ProComp wheels. I asked the shop I bought them from and they said it must be normal.

Anybody else notice this wiht their wheels?

Same wheels and same thing on mine, but it is no problem as the lugs cover them anyway and they won't corrode.

BaltChief,

Thanks for the pics the other day! I orderd these wheels right after I saw them.

Did you use your stock lugs? I was thinking about gettin black or splined lugs.

yes...and the TPMS sensors too. They did tape the sensors down so the tires would clear.

Hello, there was a discussion way back about the stock lugs... As far as I remember, your not to use them with anything but the stock rims..

When I got my 7089's I had to use the stock lugs until I got my black splined.. BUT was uncomfortable.. Something about the difference on how the "LUGS" seat on the Pro-comp's or any after market rim as compared the the stock ones..

So. get those splines..!!

I have Pro Comp 8069 black rims. Mine are the same with black only on the outiside of the rim. They are right about the stock lugs, the Pro Comps need
special lugs to seat properly. I also got Gorilla locks.

Hmmm...what is this about Splines? I know nothing about this? I have had my original lugs on for over 2000 miles so far.

OK....so you all had me worried about using factory lug nuts on my Pro Comps...so I called 4WD and they gave me the Email to Pro Comps customer service and here is the skinny on it....

It is fine to use factory lug nuts as they have the same "cone"....the only difference between what Pro Comp would use and the factory lugs is the Pro Comps are thinner for easier acces, if you use a thin walled socket the factory lugs are fine.

Different wheel but mine are completely coated inside the lug holes. Arrived from "4WD H" balanced all wrong (weights in multiple areas inside wheel instead of one area and lugs way too thick). Local DT corrected amateur balance job and applied narrow lugs so as not to scratch the wheels with every removal.
