Default Dirty Dog Sun Screen; 1 v 2 piece

Based on the comments from some earlier threads, I'm leaning towards the Dirty Dog Sun Screen for my JKU. I'd like to get the 2 piece, i.e., separate pieces to cover the front and rear seats, but I'm wondering if the 2 piece would flap at highway speeds more than the 1 piece would. Anybody have the 2 piece that can comment? I haven't seen this addressed elsewhere. Thanks.

Can't speak for that set up on a JKU but I run the Dirty Dog 2 pc.on my 2 door and I experience no more flapping than I get from my Trektop NX.
Flapping at 65 mph highway speeds is fairly minimal in my opinion.Keep in mind your talking about a mesh top that allows for air/wind to pass through with less resistance.
I can recommend the Dirty Dog it is a quality product only thing I think could be improved upon is the Velcro they use to mount the top to the sound bar.I fixed that by adding 2 more holes on the back edge of the top and pressed in rings with one of those tarp eyelet kits. This allowed me to wrap a couple of those small bungees with the ball attached to the sound bar....problem solved

I have the 2 piece on a JKU and don't notice a problem with flapping. However, the adhesive for the velcro that attaches to the top came loose, and I had to re-glue it down. Has held great since.

I bought the 2 piece thinking I may want to remove the front and keep the rear on for my daughter, but since having it I have had no desire to remove the front. Still provides a very open feeling with solid shade protection. If I did it over I would probably just get the 1 piece but not a big deal either way.

I originally had the Dirty Dog 1 pc on my JKU then switched and went with a Spider web Jkini set up w/ Safari Straps that covered just over the Rear.. the extended warrior cage.

I liked the Dirty dog 1pc but sold it wanting the 1 pc more.

Im buying a JK this round so will just be sticking w/ a Jkini again

However if I was to buy another JKU I would do the 2 pc

the 1pc was not that desirable to me.. to each his own.

and the Included Velcro does suck the glue will come loose.. My advice find another way to secure.. I think you can buy industrial strength grade Velcro and I would also apply it with a strong GLue.

Good luck.. hope my 2 cents helped some!

CLIFF NOTE : go with the 2 pc

I have the one piece front and I agree with the above posts about the velcro attachment method on the sound bar. I don't like it. It is too hot here and the adhesive melts. I would have preferred more grommets and bungees instead, so I might add them myself.

One thing I considered was to try to use it on the back and just stick with my freedom panels in front. I am not sure if this idea will work due to the back being a different shape.

Basically, I would go two piece.

I have the two piece. No noticeable flapping; it's very taut when rigged properly. I love mine.

I have had the front half for over a year and love it and recently added the back half. My top is off more than on --I live in SoCal. No flapping and the only thing I've had to do is replace one strap, but they sell a bag of replacement straps that will last me years.

You can see the front is a bit faded compared to the back. Definitely keeps the sun off you and your seats --which is nice when you have black leather.

I bought the two piece. I was worried about flapping, so I pulled the rear piece very tight before securing it to the Velcro. Don't do this, as it will peel the Velcro off the sound bar. I reattached the Velcro stickers and loosened up the rear sunshade and I've had no further issues. And no flapping. I got the two piece because my kids claimed to want an open back seat, but one afternoon in stop and go traffic with full power Oklahoma sun convinced them that the shade is a good idea. So, in hindsight, the one piece might have been the way to go.
