Default Need a little help making up my mind

The wife finally went on a run with me and loved it. She has now told me to set the jeep up which ever way i need, so we can start doing a few events a year out west (not a whole lot of rocks in the swamp) But i have been trying to decide between going to 40s or doing a little smaller. I know doing 40s the right way is going to run between 30 and 40 thousand. I have never wheeled out west (rubicon trail, Moab) was wondering are there ant limitations on going to 40s. so any advcie will be welcomed dont bash on me too hard!

Are you new to the sport? If so, I think 40s is way overkill. What are you running now? How many miles per year?

runnign 35s with ome lift I only put about 10000 miles a year on my jeep. As far as experence most of what we do around here involes mud and rock so the jeep with under 40s dont get to much fun after the buggies get finished rutting it up thats why i wanted to go 40s

I would say at a minimum you'll be needing dana 60's and 5.38+ gears. Minimum of 4.5 inch lift with flat flares etc etc. Maybe a supercharger or turbo if driving it to trails

Would be doing d60s 5.38 Arb rear, Detroit upfront, coil overs all the way around, with long arm system and flat fender with some trimming as well and hydro assist steering along with a few more mods.

I would take a chunk of that money and invest in some fabrication equipment and some welding classes. You can build your own junk yard 1 ton axles and links for relatively cheap.

Are you asking about the differences between builds for western rocks vs swampy areas? Or just a general question on what you should do to run 40's on a JK?

It sounds to me like you have given it a lot of thought( I don't know why anyone on this forum would bash you for getting 40's,, they are revered!!) and you are ready to pull the trigger!! I think with 40's your gonna have to be comfortable trimming the crap out of your pinch seams. I was a little nervous at first,, but you'd be amazed how easy (and fun) a sawzall makes it.
