Default Steering Pop, put yer thinking caps on

Hey all. I need some help. I am running the setup that is listed on my signature. Since I recently got this particular jeep, the lift, spidertrax spacers, etc were just put on. The spidertrax and lift have about 200 miles on them. I haven't retorqued anything yet. However, I am now noticing a "pop" when I initially crank the wheels left or right. I crawled underneath and I can't diagnose it. It is like something is lightly binding or breaking loose past my first turn of the wheel. Drag link etc, or sway bar links...or? Nothing seemed unusually loose. I default to you much smarter guys on here. Any first instincts on what it may be?

Thanks in advance all.

I had a pop in mine when I relocated my steering stabilizer. I had to adjust rocker arm up and straighten out the stabilizer taking all tension out of the stabilizer. Hope this will help.

Ok, thanks. I wouldn't think that my castor angles are messed up or I would need a drop pitman arm or anything. It is not extreme lift for a JKU. But then again, who knows, maybe Im off base.

Check the torque on the axle side track bar bolt. Make sure it's tightened down to 120 ft/lbs. A loose bolt would give you that "pop" sound that you're describing.

+1 on this. It is also possible that the bolt hole area is elongated and allowing the track bar to move.

Get under the rig, have someone get in the driver seat and start it up WHILE THEY HAVE THERE FOOT ON THE BRAKE!!!, and have them turn the wheel from the left to the right until you hear the popping noise. When you hear the noise start feeling all of the joints and look for moving parts. This will be the easiest way to find the problem.

I will bet that the noise is coming from the track bar mount.

Thanks to all the guys who chimed in for me. It was my track bar. Tightened it up. Good to go. And just for good measure, during the same time installed rotopax on a teraflex accessory mount and VDP stubby bumper end cap kit.
