I am getting ready to replace the OEM front bumper on my 2013 JK. I noticed that it is a bit different than my old 2011. There appears to be some sort of vacuum module on the underside of the bumper on the drivers side that was not there on my 2011. Just wondering if this will be an issue on the new bumper install?
I have looked at several bumpers, and have not noticed any statements to that effect, but have been down this road before.

 

Most aftermarket bumpers will require you to relocate the vaccum pump. I recently had a warn rock crawler stubby bumper that came with a relocation bracket..but they are some companies out there that make one too. Offroad Evolution, Teraflex and Or-Fab all have there own style of brackets.



Here in this pic, I relocated mine using 2 angled truss brackets from home depot for $1.60 and the bolts and selftappers I already had. I moved the pump on the other side of my electric sway bar cuz I purchased a poisonspyder bfh front bumper which requires you to cut 2" off the frame rails so the bumper is tucked closer to the body.

 

I relocated that up under the hood when I put my winch in there with my stock bumper. Just have to make up a bracket or buy one, shorten the vacuum hose and extend wires. Not to difficult. Here's a few pics.

 

Are there any bumpers out there that do not require the vacuum pump to be relocated?

 

ARB. I had a dealer installed one on my 2013 (which I sold) and noticed the vacuum pump is still in factory location when I put a stubby stock one on.

 

I relocated the vacuum pump when installing mine and when talking to the company about it, they mentioned that if you want a bumper with a recessed winch, chances are you'll most likely have to replace the pump location. If you're looking at bumpers without the recessed winch plate then I'm thinking that you should be ok but am not 100%

 

I installed a pavement ends bumper on my 2012 JKUR and I didnt have to relocate the vacuum pump.

 

AEV does not require you to move the vacuum pump, unless you add a winch, then the front "ear" of the bracket needs to be cut off.

 

I just went through all of this myself and I wound up going with the Ace mid width front bumper which did require a relocation...

But I really liked the look of that bumper
