Default Wheels installed.. Bumpstops too short. Need suggestions.

I installed my wheels thus morning and everything went smooth. Installed the spare on and the bumpstops are about a .5" short. My backspace is 5.7 and tire width 275 on a set of 18x9 xd addicts. I had a set of daystar extended bumpstops but those things are just terrible and I couldn't get them on. So I trimmed a piece off a wedged them on the oem bumpstops to give some support. I'm currently trying to decide what to do, I want the teraflex hinged tire carrier but am not sure if the bestop/smittybilt carrier would just be enough. If I get the hinge I would still need to get something to extend the bumpstop but the bestop carrier doesn't take any added stress off the tailgate... Any help would be appreciated.

I too tried the daystar's today and one ripped in half. Complete garbage. Luckily my tires are only 11.5 wide, so the stock bumpstops worked. I've seen someone wedge a golf ball in-between the tires and the bumpstops and it seemed to work well. A lot of guys will just buy some hose and clamps and install over the stock stops. Hope this helps.

They were just awful. I thought about trying to trim down the pieces that screw in the tailgate and make it so they can pop in instead.

a few sections of heater hose jammed into the end of the existing bumpstops did the trick.. As I recall 1.25" diameter heater hose but search the forums your self to confirm
