Default What can I fit?

As a guy with a very short fiancee, lifting my JK is really not an option. So I am trying to figure out if my plan is possible before I start buying parts. I have a 2008 Unlimited Rubicon and would love to fit bigger tires. I was told by a friend of a friend who may or may not know what he is talking about, that if I get a 2" front leveling kit, Bushwacker Flat Fender Flares and 1.5" wheel spacers that I can fit 35" tires. Anyone tried this or know if this is possible and if there are rubbing issues?

Yes your friend is right but you might want to run extended bumpstops. Look up low center of gravity builds( aka lcg). With stock cut fenders and wheel spacers you can run 35s with the right amount of bumpstops

Thanks for the info, hated posting to ask a question that probably has been posted millions of times before, but did not know the "low center of gravity builds" or "lcg" lingo to make it searchable.

Cut fenders are not the look I am after and besides that my fenders are so sun bleached that they look like crap already! Oh and I love the flat fender look.

You may also want to trim your pinch seam.

If you don't plan on wheeling it before you are able to get a lift 35's will fit, you will need to stubby the front bumper, remove air dam and wheel spacers required if using stock wheels. My wheels are 3.75BS and 35x12.5r15 tires and didn't rub at full turn (only on bumper which was removed) If you plan on wheeling it this is not an option, I did this because I couldn't stand looking at my tires in the garage while waiting for the lift.

The big question is what you will be mostly using it for. If you're just going for the look, the above mods work fine but you won't have much articulation. You could look at 1" or so of body lift but once again, won't improve offroad perfomance much. If you don't plan on lifting, I'd go with 33's, less power drain and more practicle, still looks good. If you plan on lifting, it's worth the wait to do it right. Just my two cents...

2.5" lift with flat fenders will fit up to 37s with proper bumpstops. My fiancee is tiny & 5' tall on a good day and her JK has a 4" lift with 35s, soon to be 37s. She loves how big it is and has gotten used to getting in & out. It has no steps on it so it's quite the step up for her too.

Just get whatever you want and like the look off.

you can trim your stock fenders and pinch seam and run 35's with no additional bumpstop. This was 35's, 3.75" backspacing with factory bumpstops only. I do have a 2.5" lift, but the bumpstops were my limiting factor.
