Default Can someone identify this locker?

Found this in my dad's shop in a box labeled "Jeep Wrangler". He says he's not sure whether it came out of a TJ or JK but came out of a Dana 30 front axle.

What kind of locker is this and can I run it in my JK D30? Is there a way to tell whether is is a 3.73+ or not?

Look like what the call a lunch box locker. It uses the stock diff housing and the locker unit replaces the spider gears

Would It be an improvement to the factory spider gears? Keep in mind, my JK is also a daily, so I don't want anything that's gonna make normal driving shitty. I know pretty close to nothing about different kinds of lockers.

Also, anyone know how I can identify if this is a 3.73+ carrier?

This is a decent over-view.

You'll find lunchbox lockers under the Automatic locker heading.

+1 on the lunch box; it does appear to be a drop in auto locker of some sort (Aussie, lunchbox...) as for the carrier fitting your D30, that is hard to say from just the picture. You'll need to pull the numbers off the casting and check with either a salvage yard or an online source to see if it is for your axle or not. same with the ratio it will carry. HTH...

Not sure if you know this, but you can't use that carrier in any case unless you have someone reset your gears. They would have to swap the ring from your original carrier, and then reset backlash, etc.

The lunch box comes out of the carrier, and if it is a d30, I would presume it would fit in your JK.

You can remove the luch box unit out then see if there is a part number on the unit. Then see if it works with the dana 30 on the jk so you don't have to switch the whole diff just remove your spider gears and drop in. But having a auto locker in the front can make make it hard to steer.
