Default 35's what gearing?

Hey so what do you guys suggest for gears running 35x12.5 tires? I've got the 3:21 gear with the 6 speed stock tires and hating it things horrible in 4h going up a small hill it's sad. I wanna hit up 35's n I know that's gonna kill it without gears. I do mostly highway driving but do take it out the odd time to see a bit of mud. I want good gas mileage but also good off-roading. What's the 50/50 split to that? I've head 4:88 aren't to bad some ppl say 5:13 is over kill. What do you guys think?

Here you go.

Tire & Gear Ratio Chart at Morris 4x4 Center

They say 35's are 4.88's which is common. or some would say 4.56...

You might be better off disregarding any of the generic one-size-fits-all gearing charts on the internet, and use the ones in the FAQ's at the top of this modified area. They are designed specifically for the JK's engine/transmission combos.

And OP, fill in your profile, or tell us the year. The specific engine/transmission makes a difference in the gearing needs. It also wouldn't be bad to have more information on your typical usage, speeds, terrain, load, added weight, build, etc, etc.

And since this question is asked on a daily basis, you will find about a bajillion threads asking the same thing, with more than enough opinions to keep you reading for weeks.

Mine is a 2007 auto with 4:10 and it sucks with 35s. Takes longer to accelerate and the average city mileage drops from an average 15mpg to 12mpg. Highway does not vary much 19mpg down to 17mpg. Offroad also feel more sluggish even though the extra height makes going over stuff easier. So, I have a tire set for daily use (32in) and one for offroad (no crawling, more overland type rides).
