Default 2008 JK stock rear tire carrier bouncing

I've checked the mounts and they are tight. 33" tire mounted on it. Any bump I hit makes the tire bounce around pretty bad. Looking for a quality rear tire carrier/bumper combo but until I get it any suggestions to stop the tire from bouncing around? Anyone else have this problem? Suggestions on a good tire carrier/bumper would be appreciated. I like the look of the Smittybilt but several reviews were pretty bad. Thanks.

Make sure your tailgate is also tight or make sure it's not bent at all from the weight. Good luck man! The Smittybilt XRC is a nice set up check it out.

Thanks. I'll make sure to check it. I saw a few reviews about the craftsmanship and overall quality of the Smittybilt XRC that make me wonder but I may give it a try. Thanks again.

I plan on getting the OR-FAB tire carrier with rotopax only downside is it doesn't have an attached bumper but you can buy a metal one.

Take the spare off and strap it in the back, soon. The tailgate welds are popped: the longer it bounces, the more damage occurs.

Hi

Have You checked that your tire is tightly flushed against the rubber stopper. This is mandatory. I feel that a 33" should not bounce around if it is flushed against the rubber stopper.

I hade to put a sturdy rubber hose in mine because the where to short with my 265/70/17 tires and 4.5 backspacing rims.

+1 I used to have a similar set up when I ran with my stock carrier it helped but eventually my welds popped anyway and I had to get a carrier.

My welds are kaput... should have put a carrier on months ago. TRUST US, It'll only get worse. I have a 33" nitto trail on the back and it vibrates like hell on rough roads. I've been cringing for 6 months, XRC comes in this week.

My welds gave in also ended up going with the AEV carrier and kept the stock bumper. Works great and it opens with the door no need to swing the carrier then open the door.

I had the same issue but solved it by replacing the tailgate hinge with this and bumpstops with this.
