Default Wanted to share some info on stock vs modified characteristics of our JK

So, I am doing some road tests on my new 3-link... I have made some changes to reduce roll and wanted to see if I could feel it on the road. I have recieved great feedback and continue to work on it. Unfortunately, there is only so much I can do without removing my gas tank. So the question that popped in my head was... how is it compared to stock. I took my wifes stock jeep out for a drive down the same windy road and it performed worse. That got me thinking and I ran some numbers... Very interesting.

Now while I am comparing numbers, what I really wanted to show is that a stock JK is not all that great. So when folks talk about getting the geometry closer to stock... not sure that is necessarily a good thing.

I designed it myself... but its not perfect by any means. I plan on modifying my front a bit more by shifting my lower frame mounts on to the transimission cross member. This will reduce my squate/dive and improve my roll angle. I am sure there are plenty of other solutions out there better than mine. I just wanted to show that the stock JK isn't that great when it comes to numbers, but I love how it rides on the trails. So just how close do we really need to be and still have a capable jeep.

I would like to see some pics., and congrats for doing that kind of work yourself. It's so easy this day and age to just buy one. As far as what you really need to go 4 wheeling, it depends on what you are doing. A lot of times problems or weak points don't rear up until you are in a "special situation". Where a suspension is really called on to perform is hauling ass across the desert, or rock crawling to an extreme.

I have this one picture where I was showing off the flex with my neigbors but this was before I moved my LCA. Right now, the front is taken apart as I am finishing up the moving my front lower control mounts from the frame rail to the transmission crossmember. This reduces my roll axis from 12.5 degrees to under 1 degree which is reflected in the chart above. But even at 12.5 degrees, it performed great on the windy road. Now if only I had a real engine.
