I just noticed that my rear driver's side shock mount has rusted through and the shock is resting on the undercarriage of the Jeep. This seems like an easy straightforward repair. Does anyone have a similar experience? I'm heading to the Overland Expo East next week and I am right outside of Clemson, SC in Seneca. If anyone knows a quick reputable shop drop me a line. Thanks.

Yes, Sir. That's the culprit. I am about a mile from Clemson 4 wheel shop. Im gonna take it in tomorrow morning.

 

 

that's a quick easy fix.

 

Actually, it's the wing mount which goes through the bushing.. I do have an extra set which came with the Daystar setup.. But they are smaller than your current versions.. Typically, these "wing" or "Bar" part is included in a new set of shocks.. Thou if I had my choice.. I would opt for an upgrade.
Search Keywords: "JKS Rear Bar Pin Eliminators" easier to install too.

 

Agree with previous comment. That part came with the shock. It's an easy and cheap fix. Take it in and they'll sell you new shocks installed for $400.

 

Hah, Well If I wanted to do the simplest answer and be rude about it.. I would have said.. Go buy a new shock.. which you've pointed out.. I think who ever came up with these Bar Pin Eliminators was a brilliant idea.. and I never would have had to forcibly push the flat bars through a round hole.. Just kidding.. Set the bars in place before the socket treatment..

 

Thx, everyone. I have never messed with shocks before so if I buy a single shock rather than getting a new set(my truck has 42K on it), how hard is it to mount?
