Default Leaving the front and back wheel wells out?

Hey guys,

Did a search and didn't see anything on this (I'm a few beers in if I missed it, it's Sunday, sorry ) - Is it alright to leave the wheel wells out after trimming the fenders?

I know there's electrical components near there and I do live in Seattle where it rains quite a bit......Thoughts?

Thanks!

You'll want to bedline the rear wells or it will rust. You can cut the front liners and put them back in. Wouldn't leave them out though. Not worth the risk of water causing electrical issues or getting into your air box. MetalCloak makes some aluminum ones that are nice - if you don't want to spend time cutting the stock liners.

It'd be a good idea to trim and reinstall the front liners. There are some electrical connections that should be protected and I've heard the fan pulls air directly in through the radiator rather than pulling air from the side.

Yep, both responses are correct....too many electrical issues to worry about and you will have issues with the radiator pulling the proper amount of air through it with missing front liners. I removed the rears and didn't bed line it. So far, no rust issues, but then again, I live in So.Cal. I remember a post a while back from a guy who complained about his radiator fluid getting hotter than normal. After some questioning from some forum members, they realized that he'd removed the front liners and not replaced them.

I live in the great northwet also...when I did my new poison spyder flares about a year ago, I left the rubber liners out, no rust or other issues yet (I check these every time I clean up). Don't have any exposed wiring that I can see, and I can't see how there would be any more adverse efffects than running through some of the big mud holes at Walker. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
