Just read it says owners will be notified by 12-5-14

 

So what's the problem they are heated mirrors right ?

 

Fire risk. Shotty wiring. That sorta thing.

 

this was fix by making a tiny hole at the bottom of the mirror.. lol

 

they need to recall the starting engine issue everybody is having too

 

Anyone hear anything further??? I'm assuming we should get notices in the coming days.

My 2013 JKUR with a build date of 19 May 2013 was recalled for this.
I just had it in to the dealer several times 2 weeks ago to have the leaking radiator replaced and a full cooling system flush done. Too bad they did not have this information yet.

THE POWER SIDE VIEW MIRRORS MAY EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF RIGHT AND/OR LEFT HEATED POWER MIRROR FUNCTION. WATER MAY TRAVEL ALONG THE HEATED POWER MIRROR WIRING HARNESS AND INTO THE HEATED POWER MIRROR ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S). THIS CAN CAUSE CORROSION INSIDE THE HEATED MIRROR CONNECTOR(S) AND THE FORMATION OF A RESISTIVE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE POWER AND GROUND ELECTRICAL TERMINALS. A RESISTIVE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE POWER AND GROUND ELECTRICAL TERMINALS IN THE HEATED POWER MIRROR CONNECTOR(S) COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE WITHOUT WARNING.


Repair Description:

THE HEATED POWER MIRROR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FOR THE RIGHT AND LEFT HEATED POWER MIRRORS WILL BE INSPECTED FOR CORROSION. CORRODED CONNECTORS MUST BE REPLACED AND ALL VEHICLES WILL HAVE THE POWER FEED ELECTRICAL TERMINAL FOR THE HEATED POWER MIRRORS RELOCATED TO A SEPARATE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. IN ADDITION, A WATER SHIELD WILL BE INSTALLED TO DIVERT WATER AWAY FROM THE HEATED POWER MIRROR CONNECTOR AND DIELECTRIC GREASE WILL BE INSERTED INTO THE CONNECTOR TO PREVENT CORROSION

I have 2 recalls on my 2012.

1) N28 - Transmission Oil Cooler Tube

2) P61 - Power Side Mirror

Of course I have the extended warranty protection on the Left Head

 

It seems these manufacturers are really dragging their feet on parts for recalls anymore. My g/f has a recall on her 06 lacrosse for the faulty ignition and thats from June '14.

Now if it wasnt for the forums I wouldnt have known anything about the recall on '11.

It seems as though as we can buy death traps and everyone is cool with it taking so long to get them fixed? Sheesh things really are going down hill with quality of items. And I thought the 90's was bad. Its only gotten worse & CHEAPER since then. But the price keeps going up???? lol! UGH!
A true shame.
