Default Rear tube fender (ace) pushed into the body

This weekend I put a solid hit on a tree wheeling and hit it just right to where the tube fender smashed in the lower corner of the body.

I'm going to throw some corner armor on to cover it but from first glance there doesn't seem to be any good way to beat any of it back out. anyone do this? if so what was your solution?

Also ideas on the best way to seal the paint that has chipped to keep it from getting worse?

Fixing the body panels is a pain on JKs and in many cases it requires a body shop to fill the panels. Removing the brake light will give you a lot of access to the corner though. Pull that and see if it gets where the damage is. If so, paintless debt repair.

Recommend you get fenders that are braced, like poison Spyder or MetalCloak. Or, build your own bracing. You can bounce off trees all day long with no worries.

This is how steel fenders got a bad rep. The ones that aren't braced and damage the body.

Unfortunately the damage is on the front rear corner of the fender. I've thought about replacing the fenders with something a bit more robust. I love the ace design but after looking at it the rear front comes out from the body instead of tapering in like most you see. I feel like this alone would have deflect a good brunt of the impact. regardless I don't see it bneing worth the time to take it to a body shop if I plan to cover it with armor. Mainly just fix the paint and seal it before I put armor on.

Lemme get a pic of it real fast.

As you can see it's not aweful and I've hit it with paint to keep it from rusting or hopefully getting worse. The spots with tape are also where it was bent and paint chipped off.
