Cool changing gears

So I'm thinking about putting 4.88 gears in my jk x. The 373 gears just don't work with the 35 inch tires ( can't use overdrive ). only question is if my stock carriers will work. I have read in places they won't work and some say they will. I was just wondering which way was right. Thanx for the advice in advance...

You will need a new carrier for the D44 rear axle. If you have a D30 up front you wont.

Give Randy's ring and pinion a call they'll set you straight.

I'm almost positive you will not need new carriers to go from 3.73 to 4.88.

Now, if you had the 3.21 gears you would need to get the new carrier. However you don't have 3.21 so you should not need the new carrier.
