Default TF44 Housing question:

Is a TF44 housing replacement an appropriate item to use in lieu of adjustable front control arms for caster correction? I thought I read somewhere either Teraflex or another company making replacement 44 housings engineered in additional caster to correct lifted geometry with stock arms.

If you're going to spend axle housing type money why wouldn't you spend the $500-$600 for a full set of front control arms? Teraflex, dynatrac and g2 all make caster adjusted 44 housings.

TF and Dynatrac both do. However, the adjustment is not custom. So, one housing may be for a 3"-4.5" lift. You'd still want adjustable arms to dial in caster.

So, you want to spend $2k+ so you can run stock arms? I'm not sure that makes sense.

You can sometimes specify to have more caster added to a custom housing depending on the manufacture. This isn't a replacement for an adjustable control are as others here stated. You will still want the ability to fine tune the caster with adjustable control arms to ensure the best ride quality possible.

Thanks for the info! I'm only trying to better understand the front suspension factors. Add up the cost of sleeves, C gussets, installation costs and front arms, it seemed as if an aftermarket housing might be a possible alternative. You've answered my question.

Join some local clubs and all that stuff is a lot cheaper. I burn gussets in for $60 and do the hammer in sleeves for about the same. Things like arms, etc, I'll toss on for free. Most people can do it, but it only takes a few min when you have the right tools.

Your profile isn't filled in, so just to verify, you do have a rubicon? (that $2000 housing could actually be a $5000 axle...)

A single set of front arms (either upper or lower) will set the caster. Add the second set if you want to fine tune or move the entire housing forward/backward in the wheel well.

This is a decent "build vs buy" comparison that some have found to be helpful. (it is specific to a d30, but you can draw some similarities to a d44)
