What lifts do you recomend for 35"s?
Newbie question. I'm a bit new to the jeep world but I'm going to be running 35 inch cooper discoverer stt soon but I can't decide on a lift. I've looked on other threads and websites and I've seen people running everything from a 2.5" lift to a 4" lift. Personally I think 4" is a bit overkill for 35's. I've got a 2010 JKU sport 6-speed man. I've been looking at the Rubicon Express 3.5" standard coil suspension lift, 3.5" Pro Comp lift kit with ES9000 shocks, a 4" mopar short arm lift, and a 3.5" rock Krawler lift. It is my DD but I would like to take it out on the weekends. I'm more of a camping type person, less of a hardcore crawler. I'm a happy medium. What are your suggestions? Also, should I get sway bar disconnect? Thank you
In the other threads you have read, have you seen a recommendation to open the two threads stuck right to the top of this modified area? FAQ's and Thoughts On Lifts...
Will you be chopping the flares or going to flats? What is the total budget? Will you be regearing? Will you be strengthening the front axle housing? Do you have a plan for if/when you lose a driveshaft due to the lift height?
To compare lift kits, you should try to get a better understanding of what the various components actually do, and at what heights people start wanting them. Then you can start a process of elimination about which kits have the components that you want. (for example - will you care about caster correction? If so, which specific method is right for you? Cam bolts, drop brackets, new fixed control arms, or adjustable control arms? And if you decide on arms, do you want lower, upper, or both? etc, etc)

Edit: Personally I have 35's with about 4.5" of lift right now and I love it. But I don't need a lift anywhere near what I have admittedly, I just like it.

All the lifts you have looked at will work with 35s, but as with most things in life you get what you pay for. The more expensive will probably be the better and the cheapest, the not so good.
I personally run 35s on a custom 3" lift (i.e. no one brand throughout, different control arms, springs, relocation brackets, shocks, axle upgrades, etc.) and a 1" body lift.
If you are more of the camping at the weekend type of wheeler as you say, I would suggest something like 33s and a body lift. A Jeep on 33s is very capable of doing a lot. On the last Rubicon we ran, a friend who has a TJ on 33s went through little sluice without breaking anything. It didn't sound good going over a few rocks, but with some good spotting he enjoyed the whole trip.

Be prepared to spend a couple hours there, but what you describe is very common to what the folks there do with their rigs. In general, most of the people I go out with (and I go out a lot on overland trips) run a 2.5" lift and 33 to 35 inch tires. A few are a little bigger, but most aren't. And we take on some pretty tough trails on occasion (though often we travel little more than dirt roads).
As for swaybar disconnects: I recommend. It will make driving on rough rides a little softer if you disconnect. So will lowering tire pressure--but to about 20 lest you risk puncturing a sidewall (lower when needed, such as across a dune field, then air back up to 20 once past the obstacle).
