Default On Board Air

I am getting ready to install my ARB twin compressor in to my 09 jk under the seat. At the same time I will be installing a air tank either a 3 or 5 gallon tank back on my roll cage I just recently installed. I am wondering what parts I would need to make this work correctly. I am wanting to run air tools if need to be out on the trail. I know I will need a air pressure switch, water trap and drain. Is there anything else I would need to make this work correctly. I was going to run 1/2 airline from the compressor to the tank mounted towards the rear cargo area about the factory sub location. If anyone got pics of their install would like to see how you got it mounted and so forth.

thanks

I just finished a custom install of a ARB twin, M.O.R.E mounting plate and 2.5 Viair tank in a custom rear tub. I'll see if I can upload some pics.

The vacuum pump wouldn't work there with the SPOD source system if thats what he will use for his switch system.

Did the air fitting clear your hood?

Yes. M.O.R.E supplies the 1/4 npt elbow. The braket is a perfect fit in that location. And yes, the vacum pump relocation will not fit in that location if an Spod is used. I also modified the M.O.R.E plate so the pump could remain there. I highly recommend their plate and their service and shipping is outstanding.

The twin uses a 150PSI pressure switch to control the relays that run the motors as assembled from ARB. You do not need a second pressure switch unless your tank isn't rated for that much pressure. Make sure you use a decent size high temp hose to connect your compressor to your tank (3/8" ID or similar) to avoid reducing performance as well. I've built several of these systems with and without tanks and they work great as long as the lines are large enough to transfer the air and can handle the 300+ degree temps coming out of the compressor without melting anything.
