Default Finally going 4wd but cant remove trans...HELP!!

So finally I decided to go 4wd...the front diff was swaped out and no issues....but I am now trying to remove the trans and it lookes like i have to chop my exhaust and drop the gas tank...does this sound right....Alec

To remove the auto transmission, chopping the exhaust and dropping the fuel tank doesn't sound right.

It sounds like you are not reading any tech data for transmission removal.

Subscribe to AllData. It's the factory service manual. A 5 year subscription is around $40. Well worth the money.
A more expensive source is the factory service manual on cd from the Jeep web site.

Have it towed to Rebel Off Road, they can help you they swapped out my transmission.

I Have alldata, prodemand and dealer tools none of them mention anyof that ...Im a diesel tech but not a jeep one lol....the trans cant be lowered due to exhaust being underneath...looks like exhaust goes to manifold....and to drop the cross memebr i have to remove the shield but the gas tank is supported my the shield...lol

The exhaust can be disconnected and lowered without chopping. There is no mention in the factory service manual of having to remove the tank. The shield may have to be supported.

On the 42RLE at least, all you need to do is remove the extension housing and replace it with one from a 4x4 model.

I was able to put it on a 4 post today and im a dumbass.... i was doing it on the ground and couldnt see anything....once it was up i dropped the exhaust and slid the cross member out without touching the shield...Thanks guys...couple eyes alway see better then 1....rearmain and oil pan gskt is enrt....
