Question DIY duster cover - would this work?

Here is an idea of what it would look like:

One concern is that it might be too flimsy. If so for $10 I could put 1/8" x 48" x 96" hardboard I could put under it to strengthen it, but then I'd probably have to get longer screws...

Does this sound like it could work? Thinking it would be a $50-$80 and a 2-3 beer project.

Just to throw out another idea. I made a rear cover out of outdoor fabric. Used a writeup from ACLeeJK. Definitely more than a three beer project. It attaches with bungee balls and would attach where the hardtop bolts down. Very easy to install and can fold up to take up very little space when not needed.
