Thought I'd hit the experts up about the PSC hydro assist. I'm finally about to pull the trigger on some hydro assist and I was wondering which unit to buy.

I was all set to get the one designed for a daily driver, but I went wheeling with someone a couple weeks ago that advised me against that particular unit. He stated that he had the daily driver unit and he found it wasn't any different from the stock steering box, so he ended up switching his from the daily driver set up to the off road only set up. Can anyone help me out with some feedback on what type of hydro assist they're are running? I'd greatly appreciate any and all info I can get. Thanks in advance.

I'm not up to par on psc offerings but whats the dd vs offroad only. I made my own hydro and to me the only things that make a difference are the pump/pulley size and the ram bore size. On a stock pump/pulley id run 1.5 bore ram. Steering box shouldt have much of anything to do with it...

The difference between the offroad only and the daily driver units is they have different valving which gives the offroad only unit more power and the daily driver more of a stock feel.

I have the on road version. Turns the 37's just fine in places where it wouldnt turn at all without.

How much effort did you have to put on the steering wheel when you were turning. My buddy didn't like the amount of effort needed to execute a turn.

The power and feel I still would think comes from the pulley /pump related to bore size. It will also affect lag times and such.

I have the Offroad one 1.75 three weeks and love it.... Its my daily driver.... It's a bit touchy on the hiway but nothing you can't get use to in 10 minutes on your first trip(hiway). Been in rocks twice since and it's sweet being able to turn even locked up.

By touchy do you mean there's no free play with the steering wheel? As in, as soon a the steering wheel moves so do the tires.

I also run a 1.5" bore ram off the stock pump and turning is still effortless in the rocks. 1.5 bore with PSC's pump, with smaller pulley, should have no issues at all on or offroad.
